Abstract

In this paper, Amartya Sen's capability approach will be related to information seeking behavior research and self-learning discussions. Firstly, the capability approach and the idea of education as a basic capability will be introduced. Secondly, the capability approach applied to the digital divide and the idea of academic self-efficacy will be introduced. Finally, Sugata Mitra’s self learning approach will be related to Sen’s capability approach, concluding that the capacity of information seeking and the capacity of asking questions are part and parcel of the idea of education as a basic capability.
