Resumo

Neste trabalho apresentamos os resultados de uma análise bibliométrica realizado com o intuito de examinar o desempenho e as tendências da literatura científica sobre o vírus SARS-CoV-2, a doença COVID-19, as vacinas e a vacinação. Nossa pesquisa se concentrou nas publicações de cientistas latino-americanos, utilizando o banco de dados Scopus desde 2020 até inícios de 2024. Para fazer isso, rastreamos mudanças temáticas ao longo do tempo, identificamos padrões de colaboração dentro da América Latina e a nível mundial, e observamos a discrepância entre a significativa produção científica da região e sua limitada visibilidade global. Isto realça a importância de melhorar as capacidades de investigação e divulgação na América Latina para enfrentar de maneira mais eficaz futuras crises sanitárias. O Brasil se destacou na região pela sua ampla colaboração com a Europa, sua alta produtividade científica, pelo grande número de pesquisadores e uma presença sólida de suas revistas para a divulgação dos resultados das pesquisas, especialmente na América Latina.
