Abstract

Since the founding of universities in the invaded territories, which are currently known as America, the knowledge and knowledge that the subject peoples had built were left out, since the only perspective taught on university campuses was, and continues to be, the Eurocentric epistemic matrix.

The above has led to a concealment and gradual elimination of the epistemic and intellectual constructions of the native peoples within the university map, that is, to a slow, silent but continued epistemicide that began in the 16th century AD, continuing to the present day.

This article is an approach to epistemic racism within Westernized universities such as the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and its relationship to curricular epistemicide. Firstly, an approach to UNAM is presented in terms of its historicity as a Westernized university, that is, as a higher education institution founded following the model of Western universities. In the second section, the relationship between racism, curricular project, epistemicide and pedagogy is addressed.
