Incidence of critical writing in the development of intercultural competencies in university student teachers

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of critical writing on the development of intercultural competencies in university student teachers. Using a quantitative approach and a descriptive-correlational design, five key dimensions were evaluated: knowledge of cultural diversity, intercultural empathy, conflict resolution, intercultural communication, and critical thinking. The results reveal that critical writing positively affects the development of intercultural competencies, particularly in improving knowledge of cultural diversity and empathy toward other cultures. However, areas for improvement were identified, especially in conflict resolution and overcoming communication barriers. These findings suggest that critical writing is an effective tool for training future educators in multicultural contexts, though methodological adjustments are needed to maximize its impact.
