Resumen

El artículo se propone reconstruir los puntos de vista de Rudolf Hilferding y Ludwig von Mises sobre el Methodenstreit. Para ello, repasa el origen, desarrollo y recepción de la controversia, y compara la interpretación de este episodio en ambos autores a partir de algunos de sus escritos. Concluye que, aunque ambos reconocieron un ámbito autónomo para la economía teórica separado de la historia, divergían en su interpretación sobre el objeto de la ciencia económica y sobre la universalidad de sus leyes.
